Is spring here yet?

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I don’t know when it will ever stay for good - well at least for a few months….it seems the sun is shining one minute and you’re having just a sweater and then it’s back to the coat and the sky looks like snow could just pour down…but I guess that’s why we appreciate it so much…and we did make it on that adventure with our friend Sylvie to see an area tradition to welcome spring and to say goodbye to winter…here’s a few photos.

Day 81

A very cool cathedral (dome) in the background, but you can’t really see it - trust me it’s beautiful.

Day81-Mar21-1.jpg

And old door - part of the dome.

Day81-Mar21-8.jpg

And then it was on to see the parade and to wait for the snowman.Day81-Mar21-3.jpg

Liam awaiting the snowman - the sticks are part of the tradition and pretzels are added and eaten.

Day81-Mar21-4.jpg

Here is a giant straw snowman that will be the end of winter.

Day81-Mar21-6.jpg

After the parade and the snowman - the crowd follows the parade to a large open area and there are songs and dancing…then the snowman is burned to say goodbye.

And after all of that, there must be a little more fun with rolling down the hill.

I’ve started my new job - so I’m busier than ever - have a great week!

Goals

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

I have not been really keeping up with a photo a day, although it is one of my goals that I hope to complete - it’s okay to miss a day or two or more…right?  I will actually be starting a part-time job this week and will see how keeping up with things works…here’s a few photos - we’re going another a new adventure today for Sommertagszug  - I’ll post some photos later today or soon! :)

Day 75: Leo - I bought this circle pad thingie for our table, just because I liked it - I had not used it yet, but the cats took over - obviously, it is meant to be a cat nap bed.  I can usually find one of the cats napping here throughout the day.

Day75-Mar16.jpg

Day 78: Just a self portrait…a reminder that this is who is taking all these photos.

Day78-Mar19.jpg

Day 79: Waiting for Liam to finish his piano lessons…oh, Aodhan was so bored, but still cute and goofy.

Hopefully, the week will be full of keeping up with goals and new adventures.

a park adventure

Monday, March 16th, 2009

…so we always say we’re going on a new adventure when we go somewhere new…Liam asked me yesterday why?  Of course, they ask the why question quite a bit and I find myself thinking up answers that are correct and satisfactory to the boys or I will get asked why again…not that I mind, it’s just a reminder that sometimes things just are and we don’t think about them - should we be?   Here’s a few photos from our ‘adventure’….

Day 74

A TV tower - we thought we might eat lunch here, but too much other stuff to do in the park.
Day74-Mar15-1.jpg

Aren’t these pretty flamingos - not too warm for them here though.
Day74-Mar15-3.jpg

I love this building - it’s a tea house, we didn’t have tea here - not a thing for the boys to do - but I just love this building and the tranquility of the gardens surrounding the building.
Day74-Mar15-4.jpg

I was the requested camera crew - and followed along the dangerous path within the cave and out.
Day74-Mar15-6.jpg

In a greenhouse aquarium building - we saw snakes, fish, reptiles…
Day74-Mar15-8.jpg

…so who knows what our next adventure will be.

still searching…

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

for the perfect klavier…we think we’ll have to get some kind of in between style - maybe a digital piano, until we can afford the one we would like…so we went out again in search of something, and still we can’t make up our minds - but we did by a bench…Well, it’s raining a lot here - surprise there, but I hear there is still lots of snow happening in places in the states, so rain is good.  I’m over the snow for the winter and just wish for spring.

No photos for the past couple of days - here’s a couple from today - happy mid-week!

Day  69

Day69-Mar10.jpg

I’ve been promised, too by my friend, Sylvie, photo opportunities of lots of old doors…here’s another:

Weekend

Monday, March 9th, 2009

We had a great weekend - enjoyed some nice weather and some rainy weather…went out to an American Diner and it was very American and tasty.  I’m hoping, as always, to catch up on work this week…maybe I’m supposed to stay behind so that I always have something to catch up to??
Day 66: The Diner

Sweet photo of Liam at the diner - leaning against Ed’s shoulder:

Day 67: And then a bit of fun at the homestead - Also, recovered the seat cushions from our dining room chairs - check ‘em out in the photo with Aodhan - goofy kid.

And I end with this:

Future of School and Piano

Friday, March 6th, 2009

The boys were asking me how many years I had spent in school this morning, they’re always wondering how much more they have left. So I tell them about 16 or 17 years because I went to college - oh my gosh, why would I do that! I started to explain college and why we would go through that much school and they wanted to know what I had studied, which is: Anthropology/Archaeolgy and they wanted to know what this is…so I tried to explain it as old stuff, the study of people, and so on…but it came down to - well, you know it’s sort of like Indiana Jones kind of stuff.

Liams says: Oh, you mean like Hans Solo?

Well, not exactly, lol! He thinks it is so totally cool that Harrison Ford is both Indiana Jones and Hans Solo.

Aodhan, however, did say museum stuff…hmmm…who’s the Star Wars fan here!

It looks like I have many many years to look forward to of - “why do I have to go to school!”

Anyway…back to real life.

Liam had his first piano lesson today - I think it went well, but little did I know it is so high tech these days…a keyboard that uses the computer with a keys that light up; Liam likes it, so that’s good.

Just Everyday

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Really just lots of everyday stuff lately.  We’re seeing nicer weather with rain here and there - no more snow (knock on wood)…doctor’s appointments, cleaning, and all that good stuff going on…

Aodhan did say to me yesterday, “You know, Mom - sometimes you’re really goofy.” I think this is a good thing!

Day 61 - Another cool door (this one is actually on a post)

Day61-Mar2-1.jpg

same day - cool clock and look at that cloudy sky!

Day61-Mar2-2.jpg

Day 62 - We see a lot trees pruned this way around here…my guess is so that they don’t become too large….?
Day62-Mar3.jpg

Day 63 - Just a cool builidng

Day63-Mar4.jpg

the family walking - we’re in search of a piano (klavier)

Day63-Mar4-2.jpg

a bit of an artsy place - across the street from the family walking

Day63-Mar4-3.jpg

Day 64 - I’ve starting collecting some vintage toys, that the boys can play with - ones that remind me of being a kid and they love them, too - this is an old barn with the moo sound when you open it - Little People stuff - people and animals are also from 70’s…
Day64-Mar5.jpg

So that’s all of that - as always lots to do and keep up with.

I’ve got a new kit at Little Dreamer Designs, too - check it out here:
